Commencement date:  Jan. 6, 2009

 

Termination date:  Dec. 31, 2009.  with the possibility for a one-year extension.

 

Responsibilities:

            Work collaboratively with the supervisor on optimal spatial data structures research.  The goal is to discover optimal data structures to solve open problems for organization and retrieval of massive spatial data.  The primary deliverables for the research are papers published in respected peer-reviewed computer science conferences and journals.

This research position is part of an NSERC Strategic Grant involving UNB, University of Waterloo, Dalhousie University, Caris and MADALGO, and would include interaction with this larger team. 

 

Remuneration:

CAD$45,000 per year.  Fringe benefits (e.g. medical and dental insurance coverage) are not included, but are available through the Graduate Student Association as explained in the UNB Policy on Postdoctoral Fellows, available at

Office space, computer workstation connected to the UNB Faculty of Computer Science network, e-mail and computing services, printing and photocopying for research purposes, UNB library privileges, access to faculty and staff  privileges (e.g. parking, recreation and athletic resources).  Note that post-doctoral fellows at the University of New Brunswick are not considered to be employees of the University.

 

Special conditions:

Requires a recently completed (within the last 3 years) Ph.D. degree in Computer Science with a specialization in algorithms and data structures.
